Purpose

Coaching continues to gain momentum across diverse communities—practitioners, researchers, educators, supervisors, and leaders. This growing interest reflects its vitality, but also brings varied interpretations of what coaching is, why it matters, and how it should evolve. In this context, Philosophy of Coaching: An International Journal (POC) aims to support the development of coaching practice, research, and supervision by strengthening its scientific and philosophical foundations.

To this end, POC publishes a wide range of articles, including conceptual and theoretical papers, empirical studies (with a preference for qualitative research), review articles, position papers, but also case studies, and book reviews. For detailed descriptions of each submission type, please refer to the “For Authors” section.

Our goal is to foster reflexivity and critical thinking in coaching, encouraging its evolution toward a responsible, ethical, and sustainable practice. We seek well-written, informed articles that draw on diverse sources—from coaching literature to practical experience—and offer original, rigorous, and compelling thinking into what coaching was, is, and can become.

Coaching models are welcome when they act as lenses through which larger questions can be explored. We are not interested in publishing new models as ends in themselves, but as means to provoke thought, dialogue, and reflection.

Authors are responsible for the ideas presented in their submissions. While AI tools may assist in the writing process, fabricated content (“AI hallucinations”)—such as non-existent references—may lead to rejection.

We look forward to reading your work and engaging with your ideas!
